Rosslyn Ready

Project overview

The Rosslyn Ready campaign is a comprehensive initiative launched by the Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) to support a safe and welcoming reentry into the neighborhood as Northern Virginia navigates post-COVID-19 reopening phases. Originally introduced in May 2020, the program has evolved into a two-phase effort, with Phase I offering tailored digital resources and expert guidance for local businesses, and Phase II focusing on enhancing public health measures in shared spaces. Through visible signage, expanded sanitization efforts, and socially distanced placemaking strategies, Rosslyn Ready underscores a community-wide commitment to health, safety, and collaboration, ensuring that both residents and businesses can return with confidence.

Involvement

The Brief

Design a cohesive set of signage materials to support the Rosslyn Ready program, aimed at guiding residents, employees, and visitors through safe public health practices as they return to Rosslyn. This signage should communicate health and safety messages clearly, reinforce community trust, and align visually with the Rosslyn BID’s brand and tone.

My Approach

The signage design centers around a bold, recognizable check mark—a symbol of readiness, safety, and trust. This mark acts as both a visual cue and a branding element, instantly reinforcing Rosslyn Ready’s commitment to public health with every sign. Paired with clean typography and accessible language, the design ensures key messages are easy to spot, easy to follow, and unified across the neighborhood.

The Results

The Rosslyn Ready campaign has proven effective in building public confidence and encouraging safe behavior throughout the neighborhood. Its clear, consistent signage and visible safety measures have helped residents and businesses navigate reopening with a sense of structure and support. By combining strategic communication with on-the-ground enhancements, the campaign fostered a shared commitment to community well-being.
